Strategic Partnerships Manager - Microsoft, Justice Reform Initiative

Who: Microsoft, Justice Reform Initiative

What: If you would like to work at the intersection of technology and social justice, you are invited to explore an exciting opportunity with Microsoft’s Justice Reform Initiative. The heart of the initiative is to use data and technology to advance racial equity in the justice system. We seek to advance community-centric policing strategies, alternatives to arrest/incarceration, and fairer prosecution. This role, Strategic Partnerships Manager - Justice Reform Initiative, is critical to advancing this mission by serving as a key connection between Microsoft and the external organizations with whom we collaborate.


Note - this role can be located anywhere in the US. Preference is in major city near a Microsoft office.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Strategic Partnerships Lead- Justice Reform Initiave, you will work with external organizations on tech for social good collaborations specifically related to justice reform. This includes sourcing, scoping, and managing execution of partnerships to support programmatic outcomes for our partners.
  • Leverage community-based social impact teams at Microsoft to land workstreams in specific geographies in the United States.
  • Apply knowledge of data and technology to advance and accelerate mission-driven organizations in the justice reform space, particularly related to policing, diversion, and prosecution.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external Microsoft partners and consultants to support technical deployments on our premier projects.
  • Identify new partners and cultivate existing relationships to drive progress toward the Justice Reform Initiative’s goals and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with non-profits and thinking through how to overcome challenges associated with limited data and tech capacity. Experience working on tech for social good projects a premium.
  • Experience working in the justice system or on issues of criminal justice reform preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with corporate philanthropy and responsible grantmaking. Includes an ability to align grantmaking strategies with corporate priorities.
  • Keen eye for storytelling through data and data visualization. Ability to work collaboratively with many different types of stakeholders, including internal stakeholders to help with telling our own stories of issues and impact, as well as helping our nonprofit partners with narrative development.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically but also detailed-oriented to aggressively advance the mission of the Justice Reform Iinitiative.
  • High EQ and people skills to interface effectively across varied stakeholder communities including criminal justice reform organizations, Microsoft partners, product groups, and other business groups.
  • Quick learner of Microsoft systems and processes.
  • Ability to work independently and within a matrixed environment; a self-starter.
  • Commitment to issues related to racial equity and justice reform and intellectual curiosity on the complexity of these subjects.
