Who: The Department of Public Administration (DPA), College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA), University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
What: DPA is hiring a tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning in 2019. DPA is seeking candidates who bring a strong commitment to an active research program and excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Engagement in service to the profession is also expected. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to growing the department’s public policy research and course offerings. Candidates should demonstrate their capacity to contribute to the themes embodied in CUPPA’s research pillars (as outlined below), to the department’s public policy and urban governance focus (US News and World Report recently ranked CUPPA #6 in the country in Urban Policy), and to one or more of the department’s other core competencies: nonprofit management, financial management, public management, and survey research.
Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD in public policy, public administration, political science, economics, or a related field by August 2019. Successful candidates will be required to teach a 2:2 load each academic year. Individuals who are members of a recognized underrepresented group are particularly encouraged to apply.

More info on DPA: DPA offers two graduate degrees: the Master in Public Administration (MPA) and the Ph.D in Public Administration. The DPA also offers an undergraduate degree (B.A.) in Public Policy and is currently expanding its graduate program to include a Master in Public Policy and a Master of Science in Civic Analytics. The NASPAA-accredited MPA program is currently ranked 34th in the nation by US News and World Report. DPA faculty have been ranked in the top 10 in research productivity over the past ten years by Academic Analytics.
DPA is part of the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs. CUPPA was created in 1995 as part of UIC's Great Cities Initiative and is now home to two academic departments and ten research centers. In addition to the DPA, the college also houses the Department of Urban Planning and Policy. The ten research centers within the college are: the Survey Research Laboratory, the Urban Transportation Center, the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, the Great Cities Institute, the Urban Data Visualization Lab, the Center for Urban Economic Development, the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement, Center for Public Safety and Justice, the Voorhees Center for Neighborhood and Community Improvement, and the newly established Government Finance Research Center. Research in the college is organized around three pillars: disparities (economic, political, and social), finance (especially state and local government), and governance (urban and regional).
