Chief Mobility Officer (Senior Project Engineer) - Kansas City, MO

Title: Chief Mobility Officer (Senior Project Engineer)

Type: full-time

Location: Kansas City, MO

Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month

Summary:  

Responsibilities

  • Manages and advances mobility initiatives, including Vision Zero and Complete Streets, in coordination with other Department divisions and multimodal transportation disciplines.  
  • Manages and evaluates mobility improvement projects and expansions and reviews designs of bicycle, pedestrian and traffic calming projects. 
  • Participates in the development of plans and studies related to multimodal transportation including bicycle and pedestrian studies, traffic analysis, minor design review and systems analysis. 
  • Designs on- and off-street bicycle facility improvements and traffic calming improvement projects. 
  • Researches, plans, develops, and coordinates needs concerning bicycle and pedestrian issues.
  • Tracks key performance indicators pertaining to implementation of Complete Streets, Vision Zero and Mobility initiative programs. 
  • Conducts community engagement and outreach with mobility projects, including educational campaigns/initiatives; coordinates, attends, and leads public and neighborhood meetings.  
  • Supports and develops grant proposals to advance multimodal transportation initiatives. Identifies and monitors regional, state, and federal grant opportunities.
  • Participates in developing program management plans and strategic plans, including budgeting and financial management.  
  • Coordinates with other divisions within Public Works and within the Multimodal Transportation Division. 
  • Serves as part of various intra- and inter- departmental project planning teams. 
  • Conducts and coordinates research assignments and field studies. 
  • Supports pedestrian and bicycle-related data collection, including counts.

Qualifications: REQUIRES Professional Engineer registration. Within six (6) months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.
