Position Description:     Community Engagement Manager, Evanston Cradle to Career

EC2C is a collective impact initiative, involving approximately 40 partner organizations, focused on ensuring all Evanston children and youth are on the path to leading productive and satisfying lives by age 23.  This initiative is committed to overcoming the systemic racial, social, and economic disparities that for too long have undermined too many of Evanston’s children and youth.

Overview:
Evanston Cradle to Career (EC2C) is looking for a creative, passionate professional to help our collective impact initiative to live up to the adage: Nothing for us without us. The Community Engagement Manager has primary responsibility for overseeing EC2C’s outreach to the community to ensure diverse voices are guiding and co-leading the work of EC2C.

Education/Work Experience:
·       College degree or relevant certification or equivalent work experience
·       At least one year work experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds


Primary Responsibilities:
·   Assumes primary responsibility for outreach to the community and engaging diverse community members in co-leading the work of EC2C, particularly communities of color and any other marginalized communities
·   Finalizes and implements strategy to guide community engagement of EC2C
·   Coordinates and supports a Parent Leadership Team that oversees the work of the Parent/Caregiver Empowerment and Literacy on Track Action Teams as they develop strategies for systems change
·   Explores with the Parent Leadership Team the possibility of instituting mini-grants consistent with their vision to advance the goals of Evanston Cradle to Career
·   Develops relationships with community leaders throughout Evanston and helps to build leadership skills in potential leaders in the community
·   Participates in meetings focused on community engagement and supporting EC2C communications to advance community understanding of EC2C
·   Works with parents and youth serving on the Operations Team to ensure they feel engaged and empowered within that team.
·   Develops and implements strategy for engaging young people in the work of EC2C.
·   Other duties as assigned.


Desired Skill Sets:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Community organizing, collaborative or collective impact experience preferred
  • Experience with and connection to the Evanston community preferred
  • Spanish/English bilingual strongly preferred
  • Highly self-motivated and able to anticipate needs and problems
  • Strong commitment to the ideals and mission of EC2C
